Time for some sunshine success

Posted by Gord Wilson on January 24, 2008

Greetings everyone from a humid yet overcast Tampa, Florida. Senators are here wrapping up their three-game road trip before this weekend's all-star break... and they'll play the Lightning tonight, hoping to end a three-game losing streak.

The games of late have not been pretty of late, with breakdowns of every different kind. Coach John Paddock and general manager Bryan Murray have both addressed the team and both are stressing a return to good sound defensive  hockey. We'll see if their words have meaning.

Special teams have not been kind to Ot3tawa, either. In fact, the team's last power-play goal was against  Carolina on Jan. 17 and it was a 5-on-3 goal. Since then, the club has gone oh-for their last 12 power-play chances.

No changes to the Senators' lineup tonight, although Martin Gerber will get the start. And if he wins, coach Paddock has indicated that he'll adopt the theory that if you win, you stay in with the goalies.

Tampa in a fight for a playoff spot, has won three in a row, including a 2-0 victory over Ottawa last  Saturday.

Game time tonight is 7:30... this one is on A-Channel, with yours truly and Dean Brown, and of course heard  all along the Team 1200 radio network with Dave Schreiber and Shaun Van Allen.

enjoy everyone, and we'll talk to you after the all-star break.

cheers, gord

Seeing how well Alfie played with Spezz last night I thought that the Heater could play with Fish to form another scoring line.
